We welcome all enquiries and our enthusiastic volunteers are always ready to help you make your choice.
The Blackheath Nursery was established in 1990 under the direction of Robin Corringham who was followed by David Coleby (1994-2005) and then Kevin Bell (2005-2014).
The current manager is Sue Nicol.
The nursery consists of a glass-house with controlled irrigation and heated beds, a fully enclosed work-shed for plant preparation, housing a seed-bank and a shade house with capacity for storage of over 5,000 plants.
Blackheath is used for plant propagation but large orders may be collected there after prior arrangement with the nursery manager.
We sell tubestock at just $3 each and advanced plants in 140mm pots from just $5. We attempt to keep our prices as low as possible to encourage the purchase of local native plants.
Bulk orders and large contracts attract further discounts. Please contact the Nursery Manager, Sue Nicol to discuss your needs.
We attend the LAWSON MAGPIE MARKETS at Lawson Public School on the Great Western Highway from 9am to 2pm on the 3rd Sunday of the month from August through November and February through May.
We are also at the BLACKHEATH COMMUNITY MARKETS at Blackheath Public School on the Great Western Highway from 9am to 1pm on the first Sunday of the month from August through May. At both these markets we offer a big variety of plants with many specials.
Our enthusiastic volunteers are always ready to help with your choice of plants.
We can solve your dilemma in trying to find that perfect present for somebody special with one of our gift certificates to the value of $10, $20 or $50.
These are available and redeemable any time from our stalls at the Magpie and Blackheath Markets or by sending a cheque to PO Box 29, Wentworth Falls 2782 with a stamped self-addressed envelope and we will respond by return mail.
Our plants are raised either from seed or cuttings collected within the Greater Blue Mountains area.
During a calendar year we generally have 120-140 species available with around 70-80 species at any one time depending on demand.
For over 20 years we have supplied quality local plants to Blue Mountains residents and others from neighbouring areas.
We undertake work for large landowners and landscapers, either collecting seed of local provenance or propagating from customer-supplied seed.
In the past we have fulfilled large contracts for the RTA at Soldiers Pinch, Mt. Victoria and Shell Corner, Katoomba, and on the Great Western Highway at Lawson and Wentworth Falls. Recently, we supplied 2,300 plants for the roof-top garden at the new Cultural Centre in Katoomba.
We regularly provide plants for the NPWS and Blue Mountains City Council for re-vegetation works and are always in demand by local landscapers for reliable, cheap plants.
We believe we have made a very significant contribution to the beautification of the Blue Mountains.
So, whether your needs are large or small, we can supply you with quality plants in big variety, cheaply and guaranteed to grow, having been raised in the conditions in which they will live.
Donations of local identified seeds are most welcome as we expand our seed-bank. Just note the location, time of the year and send to P.O. Box 29, Wentworth Falls 2782, bring to one of our nursery or to one of our monthly meetings. It will be much appreciated.
